From John Scalzi, for my submission to the SF cliché issue of Subterranean. Mine was one of the ones he held a little longer -- "on the bubble" is how he referred to that in the comments for his blog, Whatever. The story's going back out in the mail today. It's good to know that it's so close.

Hey, that's one to celebrate - and for a cliché issue - that's a real good thing. You probably weren't cliché enough!

The point was that the clichés weren't supposed to be cliché. And I'm sure the issue's going to be great. Elizabeth Bear and Jo Walton both have stories in it. I'm looking forward to reading it.

Thanks. Of course, I realized yesterday that I put a 37-cent stamp on the SASE, and postage goes up to 39 cents on January 8. :(

I sent an e-mail to Dr. Schmidt (though I called him "Mr." Oh, no!) to ask about it. Haven't heard back yet. Will let everyone know if I hear anything.

Oh, I forgot to say -- I don't mind printing it out and sending it again, so long as I know that's what needs to be done. What I don't want is to wait months, thinking they're holding on to it because they liked it, when they actually threw it away for not having enough postage.

I meant something more like if your story was 'on the bubble', the postage thing might be enough for them to decide to print another story instead.
