So, as per usual, at Boskone, I met lots of cool people and learned about lots of great books to check out. This is at best a partial list, based on my faulty memory and what notes I managed to jot down. (Some of these I’ve read already; some I have not.)
People who were there:
- Cerece Rennie Murphy — Check out her Order of the Seers.
- Tui Sutherland — Wings of Fire series! Also The Menagerie series, set in Wyoming, written together with her sister Kari Sutherland.
- Hillary Monahan — writes both YA and horror; also uses pseudonym Eva Darrows (Dead Little Mean Girl)
- Carlos Hernandez — The Assimilated Cuban’s Guide to Quantum Santeria
- Stephen P. Kelner Jr. — wrote Motivate Your Writing
- Brianna Spacekat Wu — head of development for Giant Spacekat game company; currently running for Congress
- E. C. Ambrose — The Dark Apostle series (book 5 just came out)
- Sarah Beth Durst — Journey Across the Hidden Islands and The Queen of Blood
- Ken Altabef — Alaana’s Way series
- Jeremy Flagg — Suburban Zombie High (which sounds fun) and the Children of Nostradamus series (superheroes!)
- Lauren Roy — Loved her Night Owls books (even if I flubbed the name when I mentioned it to her); haven’t read her YA yet
- Michael Stearns — Blood Guard series (written as Carter Roy)
- Robert B. Finegold M.D — upcoming urban fantasy including magic affinity based on genetic heritage, Kabbalah, etc. (Described it as “Dresden as written by Harry Kemelman”)
- William Hayashi — The Darkside Trilogy (about African Americans living on the dark side of the moon before Neil Armstrong ever sets foot there) and The Genesis Science Fiction Radio Show
- Susan Jane Bigelow — The Extrahuman Union series
- Leigh Perry — Family Skeleton series
- Juliana Spink Mills — Heart Blade (book 1 of Blade Hunt Chronicles)
- Margaret Ronald — the Hunt series (urban fantasy set in Boston)

Edits because I am forgetful and a bad friend (No, I know that’s not what she meant):
- L.J. Cohen, a wonderful friend, excellent potter, and brilliant author. Check out her Halcyone series (SF) or Future Tense (YA)
- John P. Murphy, whose novella “The Liar” just landed on the Nebula ballot
- Bonnie Schutzman, friend extraordinaire, and author of Bad Fairies, a lovely paranormal romance set in Boston, under the name Alice M. Cole
