Gah! 7yo was showing me completed homework last night. "Language arts"--which, in this case, meant matching sentence halves so the subject agreed with the verb and the sentence made sense. All well and good. Except . . .

One completed sentence was "The chicken layed an egg."

Preprinted educational worksheet. Was this approved at the school-wide level? Or was it just something the teacher found on-line and printed out to go with the lesson she wanted to teach? Either way, a glaring error like that annoys me. Greatly.

I shall be keeping a careful eye on other materials brought home. If such problems continue, we may have to consider whether we can stay on top of such errors or whether a change in school might be called for.

Oh, and 7yo will be discussing the misspelling with the teacher today. Wonder how that's going to go over.
