Time with my kids

(If you’re here for the A to Z Challenge, scroll down for today’s post. This is my regular Monday post about things I’m grateful for.)
This year, I ran across some very clever Easter egg ideas online. I showed a couple of them to my son, and he agreed that the geode eggs were cool. We had to hunt for alum powder (for future reference, check pickling supplies), and it took longer than we expected. I’ll post some pictures after I either find the charger for our camera or locate my son’s camera. The colors of the shells are intense, and the crystals are lovely.
That’s one example. My kids like doing things with me, though — playing games, coloring, stopping in to see if they can help make dinner, reading, visiting the library. My daughter loves to come to the store with me. I’m not always wild about that — shopping tends to take longer and have more digressions when she’s with me — but I try to remind myself that she won’t always be so eager, and she won’t always be around.
My family’s been around quite a bit this holiday weekend, and we’ve done several things together, from visiting a playground to an Easter egg hunt. Some time has been apart — my husband took our daughter to a birthday party this afternoon. It’s good for them to spend time together, too.
Today, I’m taking the time to say I’m grateful for time spent with my family, even if there are times I’d rather work on my latest novel idea.
What are you grateful for today?
