I don't see why so many people jump to the conclusion that if one is concerned for the rights of one particular mistreated group, that means they aren't in favor of rights for other mistreated groups as well. It's not a zero-sum game.

I never said it was. What I meant is that I believe all humans should be treated with dignity and accorded equal rights, without regard to what group they belong to.

Yes, but the fact that you felt it necessary to attach such a statement to a statement of support for one group implies that you either feel that way yourself or expect your readers to feel that way.

There are people who are willing to support one group but not another. Some feminists, for example, don't support gay rights. Or a member of one ethnic group may be prejudiced against another. My statement was meant to state exactly what it did: that I support the rights of all humans. Not everyone feels that way. It's not a question of expectation; it's a reflection of reality.
