Comment and I will name you 3 interests from your list, and 3 userpics and you tell me about them. In turn, you repost in your own LJ for your f-listers to do :D (A cool way to find out a bit more about the other interests of your friends list that you don't know much about.) :D But don't worry, if you don't want to just say so. (Or you can play in the comments and skip the posting in your journal.)

I'm kinda lonely. I'll play, but I'm not sure about reciprocating in my LJ.

Interests

Batto: batto is raw iai without the new-agey (or gendai) concepts of self-improvement. Batto is what Kiyoshi trains in -- instant, lethal self-defense with the sword. I think explains my interest pretty well. ;-)

Murasaki: not only the first novelist, but the first angsty author as well? The detail, the self-reflection in her diary is wonderful.

Neurobiology: My brain works in very different ways. I try hard to understand it so I can use my strengths and minimize my weaknesses. Plus understand my kids. It's somewhat successful.

Pics

Shishi: the healers usually have a shishi guardian among their tattoos. I like shishi -- not quite lion, not quite dog.

Kumo: kumo means spider. Or it could mean cloud. When we were getting Daikaijuzine together I suggested we pick on-line giant monster personnas. I like kumonga, the giant spider, for the person who has the slush pile. Therefore, Kumo-gozen, Lady Spider.

Uh: My least-used of icons, the anime self-portrait because I bend light rays in such a fashion there have only been two pictures taken of me which I actually like. Ever. Therefore self-portrait, manga-style. That was before I let my hair grow out for a ponytail, figuring the flyaway hair was not dignified for iai, plus it was becoming a pain to keep scheduling appointments for haircuts.

creekwalking-- ever since I was a kid, I've loved to go creekwalking. You pick an old raggedy pair of canvas sneaks, and follow a creek bed as far as you like. As with seeing the landscape from a train, you find yourself in parts of the world you don't ordinarily see-- green willow caverns full of things like toads and crayfish, and also...

fire newts, which are bright orange and would make great jewelry if they were willing to sit on your lapel for hours at a time. We often turn over rocks to find newts when we're walking in the woods-- they're so beautiful.

Labyrinths-- I like complexity and intricacy-- nuff said! It's the design I find appealing. I expect walking through them could be quite a challenge.

focus-- did that image for illustration friday's "blue" theme and thought it would make a good mantra for those of us engaged in creative pursuits...

eggfuimg-- [livejournal.com profile] eggfu made me that one!

creepydeepy-- I was just puddling around with some colors and that popped out. I'd been trying to come up with an image for that emotion for awhile, and it seemed to fit!

/me is Hiker Girl. I've had her almost as long as I've had my LJ; somebody sent around a build-your-own-avatar tool with hair and clothes and stuff, and this is who I came up with. She's not as tubby as me, but otherwise I think she's pretty darn close.

draco is a dragon, obviously -- I carved T'chileg into my Halloween pumpkin a couple of years ago. There he is, flying and flaming, and he'll probably come get me if I don't get to writing soon.

distress is a line drawing I made several years ago, freehand by mouse with Paintbrush. Yeah, real sophisticated artwork here :)

As for my interests:

Snowshoeing is how you hike in the winter when there's lots of snow. I love the woods crisp and white and still, with a few snowflakes drifting down and icicles gathering on the rocks above the frozen brooks.

Hats. Yeah. I like hats. Knit hats, cowboy hats, fedoras and Aussie bush hats. I even own a dressy red hat to wear with my purple dress. I would own more except I lack places to wear them :)

Basketball: to watch more than play. I'm a big fan of the college game, both men's and women's, and will watch any game that's on TV, no matter how bad the teams are or how late it is. This has caused occasional marital friction...

I'll play, but no LJ-reciprocation as I no longer use mine.

Music -- I love music and used to play the drums in a rock band.

Photography -- 2nd love only to writing. Been doing it for the past ten years, have my own darkroom, and used to teach it at our local college. Been exhibited 4 times.

Web design -- a fun hobby that turned into a freelance venture. Been doing that for about 10 years as well.

Yep, one pic. A self-portrait.
