lessons in aging gracefully

Or not.

The other day, I was grocery shopping, and the store was playing the song that we used as our high school graduation theme. Worse, I don't think I've heard it between that time and this, but I knew every word. The song? "We Are the World" (Yeah, us and 90% of the other graduating classes in the nation that year. Pop quiz: what year?)

* * *

In other news related to my high school years and all the recent movies being made of them, I note that there will be a Smurfs movie (first in a planned trilogy). Now last week, the kid saw a plush Smurf and a plush Papa Smurf in my office closet and asked to have them to play with. Okay, fine.

The husband comes in. "Why does the kid have a pair of Smurfs?"

"Because they were in my closet."

"Why were they in your closet?"

"Because I've had them since high school."

Long, strange look. Ah, well. Not the last time I'll get one of those from him.

Hee!

Well, you should see my Pokémon collection, acquired as an adult of course. And the cute stickers I put on the gun case for my sword.

It's more fun to not "grow up."

My stuffed and ceramic dragons would like to play with your Smurfs. Probably also with Beth's Pokemon, but they don't look nearly as edible :)

A Smurfs trilogy? That's a mite outlandish. However, I saw on the IMDb board that there is a Thundercats movie in pre-production. Now, THAT I can get on board with! I also wish there would be a re-emergence of She-Ra. God, she rocked.

He didn't know you had Smurfs? What kind of husband is that?

*mutters and walks away, scandalized*
