Husband thought it would be good to take six-year-old out for a bit while I'm pushing to meet some deadlines. Very nice.

However, they went to see WALL-E, a movie we've been talking about going to see when it came out . . . well, for months.

So suddenly his kind gesture feels like punishment. "We're going to go do something fun while you stay home with the teething baby and WORK. You don't get to come."

I know he doesn't mean it that way, but it still sucks.

Ah, I'm sorry. Husbands can be a bit clueless at times. They don't mean to be, as you say, but it still makes you feel left out and unappreciated.

Maybe he can watch all the kids one day after your deadline, so you can go see it by yourself? It won't be the same, but it's better than not seeing it at all.
